Hydraulic Power Units
- Industrial HPU - Standard and special design units up to 45kw and beyond , fixed and variable units can be supplied to customer specification with options such as drip tray, bund, cooling and heating.
- Mobile HPU - Units for mobile use tend to have more restraints placed on them than standard industrial units. Normally they will not be used continuously and unit weight and overall size envelope can sometimes be critical. 12 & 24 DC, IC engine & standard voltage electric motor options are available.
- Sub-Sea HPU - Having to work at thousands of metres below the waves at near freezing temperatures and exposed to external water pressures of hundreds of bar. A very arduous environment like no other. The normal rules of HPU design do not apply down at these depths. Usually these units are driven and operated by ROV.
- Machine Tool HPU - Modern machine tools and machining centres rely on hydraulics for clamping, chucking, lubrication, movements etc. Size constraints usually mean that a lot of equipment is crammed into as small a space as possible and reliability is paramount.
- Servo Test HPU - Specialist HPUs designed around demanding specifications required for correct long lasting Servo valve operation. These units are often utilised either individually feeding a few valves or can be installed with other units to feed a common hydraulic ring main feeding a multitude of testing machine stations.
- Special Fluid HPU - Not all hydraulic systems can utilise standard hydraulic oil as their operating fluids. Some require fire resistance, low viscosity index, high temperature boiling point, low viscosity. Using these fluids solves one problem and causes several others. MAN have recently designed and manufactured HPUs for use with Water, Water glycol (including sub-sea), DOT 5.1 brake fluid (glycol), turbine oils, silicone oils, phosphate ester and other ester based fluids.
- ATEX HPU - These units are used in safety critical areas where dust or gas ignition is likely to be catastrophic. Areas can be classified as ATEX, Explosion Proof Eexd, and Intrinsically Safe IS areas which take safety precautions even further. The HPUs can be supplied with certified Electric Motors, Pumps, Valves, Drive Couplings, Switches, and Instrumentation depending on how stringent the ATEX area rating is.
- Portable HPU - As the name implies these are usually small units that can be easily moved between sites. Compact in design and ease of operation are primary considerations when manufacturing these units. The HPU featured on this page was manufactured for lifting and lowering small wind turbines for maintenance.
- Product Test HPU - This style of unit are produced usually to perform one specific test or set of tests on a particular product. With instrumentation and sensors installed that will control and record a series of tests on components with repeat reliability, and an accurate load dynamic via either a hydraulic cylinder, rotary actuator or hydraulic motor.
Lubrication Units
High flow, Low pressure, electric driven pump units used for re-circulating, heating, cooling and filtering lubricating oil in large industrial applications such as gear boxes and fluid couplings.
Flows up to 600 lpm and reservoirs up to 2000 litres and beyond.
Filtration Units
Usually Portable units that can be driven by electric motor, air or I.C engine. A choice of filtration ratings and flows are available, and also the capability to fit a particle counter. These units are suitable for ensuring contamination reduction in multiple hydraulic systems.
Sub-Sea Hydraulic Systems/Components
As mentioned in the sub-sea HPU section, this is no ordinary operating environment. Material selection and construction is more critical for components used in this category than any other. Salt water corrosion and large external pressures are just two of the problems to be encountered.
